Digenakis
Crete
Leftheris Digenakis exudes boundless energy.
We are in love with Cretan wines. Why? Because it is blessed with some of the best terroir in the world. It is a Mediterranean island with all the advantages that come with it. From our experience, wines with provenance in the hills have been spectacular. Fate (and a bit of persistence) lands us one evening in Heraklion with Lefteris Digenakis. His vineyards of Syrah, Liatiko, Cabernet Sauvignon, Muscat Spinas makes some of the best fruit in the region.
He loves what he does and has an artistic side that cannot be ignored. The Digenakis wineries have some of the best mountain side vineyards. Add to this blend boundless energy. The enthusiasm was very evident in a portfolio that was across the board superb. We knew we had found our other Wines of Crete.
We are introducing two whites and two reds this time. The Marisini labels and a Cabernet-Merlot blend that could easily be from California. The Aeriko, a white blend of Dafni and Sauvignon Blanc that we think will gain it’s place as one of the best white wines from the Mediterranean. We are not exaggerating, but say that with a palate that is so influenced by the Western coast of USA.
Lefteris Digenakis, you have this dialed with your amazing vineyard, enthusiasm and artistic streak
